NEW SITE!
This division plays by the standard Little League rule book except as noted below. This is a Seniors division, with base paths set at 90’ and pitching distance at 60.5’.
This year we hope to form a small Seniors division within D52. Teams will be made of strong 14s in 8th grade looking to move to the full size field prior to high school, as well as 14/15/16s in high school who want to keep playing.
If there are not enough teams within D52 we may invite teams from neighboring districts, but are looking to limit this to teams on the peninsula to avoid lengthy travel.
This division plays weekend games only. Teams will typically play once on Saturday and once on Sunday each week. The first season parallels both the traditional Little League spring season and the high school JV season. Games start in early March and will end prior to Memorial Day.
The second season season happens after Memorial Day and after the high school JV season is done. Here additional players from the JV teams can join in the fun, either augmenting existing teams or forming new teams. We play a short schedule mostly in June which allows everyone to qualify for all-stars. Players only need 6 games to qualify for the all-star tournament in Seniors.
We want to accommodate team needs in Seniors, so whatever works for your team, we will try to accommodate it. We are looking at building in off-weekends so teams can enter non-LL tournaments as well.
Individual leagues are responsible for building teams, assigning coaches and handling uniforms and practices according to the procedures of their league. When a league has more than one team, the teams should be evenly balanced as much as possible. There should not be an “A” and “B” team. This league is geared towards 14, 15 and 16 year olds. Leagues may approve very strong 13 year olds to play up. We currently do not have the ability to take anyone older than 16.
Leagues should supply game fields for their teams’ home games if possible.
The umpire plan for 2023 is evolving, but will be some combination of umpires hired from a local umpire association, college age youth umpires, and your league umpires. More information on this as the plan solidifies.
Since we may play against teams from many districts, we avoid any local rules and play straight by the rulebook.
Managers may chose to do continuous (roster) batting or just bat 9 with subs on a game-by-game basis. The DH is permitted in Seniors.
